What do we do when work and friends cease to be amusing? Well, we can't go to a major sporting event. We can't go to a big theatre. But we can get drunk! In fact, that is what most people do when they get bored. But I don't get drunk, so I go to the movies or watch television. Yes, television is the attentive, supportive constant in my life.
Occasionally, there are some exciting local events, the Kinetic Sculpture Race being one of them. Every year, local people build huge, bicycle-propelled works of art and race them. The Iguana shown above was a particularly excellent entry in the 2000 race. To top it off, these things have to be able to cross Humboldt Bay! It's really funny when one of them sinks!
Or, you can sit quietly, watching the sun sink into the horizon, doing absolutely nothing, and enjoying every moment!
