McKINLEYVILLE

You can ride your bike over Hammond Bridge to get from Arcata to McKinleyville. Or, you can take the highway. Your choice.

McKinleyville is totally different from Arcata. When you cross the bridge and come into McKinleyville, you are leaving behind the liberal atmosphere found in Arcata. In McKinleyville, big trucks and country music are in, and hippies are nowhere to be seen. McKinleyville consists of one long main street lined with gas stations and big stores, such as K-Mart. Arcatans might detest McKinleyville, but I don't have a problem with it. McKinleyville is my home town, and I'm proud of it. It's clean, safe, and quiet. The "hicks", as the hippies would say, are usually nice people. The hippies are nice people too, but they can be quite opinionated at times. Well, McKinleyville can get boring. Sometimes, I jog around the town or to the beach. But usually, I go to Arcata or Eureka if I want to have fun.
